application has been received along with a cover sheet to submit with
the required supporting documentation.
If you have difficulty with the web submission, there are two alternatives to apply:
1. Download Application: Use the (PDF) link to download a PDF version
of the 2008 Course Application and type or handwrite in black ink the
necessary information. Mail the application along with the required

REQUIRED SUPPORTING DOCUMENTATION:
- Curriculum vitae: Enclose a copy of your curriculum vitae.
- References: Please
arrange for two individuals who are familiar with your academic and
research background and goals to complete an Evaluation Form found at
http://www.mbl.edu/education/admissions/applications/pdf/evaluation.pdf
Sealed evaluations must be submitted together with other application
materials and received in the MBL Admissions Office by February 1,
2008. Students are advised that the two required evaluations should not
come from faculty members of the course to which they are applying.
However, recommendations from course faculty members may be submitted
as supplemental third evaluations.
- Transcripts:
Undergraduate and graduate transcripts are required of applicants
currently enrolled in graduate school. M.D.s and Ph.D.s need only
submit graduate school transcripts. Although official copies are not
required, originals should be submitted. If your institution outside
the U.S. does not issue transcripts, we will accept copies of diplomas
and certificates.
- Test Scores:
Graduate students should submit score reports from any graduate level
test taken (GRE General, GRE Subject, MCAT, etc.). Official score
reports are not required. Please note that ETS in Princeton does not
release information to the MBL.
- Statement of Goals:
Please provide a one-page description of your goals for the next three
years related to your reasons for wanting to take this course.
- Summary of Research Experience:
Please provide a chronological synopsis of research experience with
list of publications, if any. Please do not submit reprints.
- Statement of Your Expectations for the Course: Please discuss what you expect this course experience to be like, and what you personally expect to gain from attending it.
We
would like to emphasize to applicants that MBL summer courses are
extremely rigorous, requiring complete student participation in all
aspects of the program for the full duration of the course. Proficiency
in the English language is essential for course students. Morning
lectures are held six days per week and usually last until lunchtime,
often including small group discussions. Intensive hands-on
laboratories begin after lunch and typically run late into the night or
early morning hours. There are frequent guest lectures in the evenings,
and Sundays may be devoted to experiments. There is little time for
much else but course work. Please be aware of this as you prepare the
statements requested of you below.
Deadline:
Completed
application forms and required supporting documentation must be
received by February 1, 2012. You will be notified of the
Admissions Committee's decision by mid-March.
Financial Information:
Tuition: $4,450.00
Room & Board: $4,000-$5,000
Financial assistance is available for participants in the summer
courses, including non-U.S. citizens. Scholarships are awarded on the
basis of need. Candidates wishing to be considered for assistance must
complete the Financial Aid Information Section included in this
application. Scholarship requests are not a factor in admissions
decisions.
