How to apply to the MOBS Course
MOBS Course students will be broadly recruited from the scientific community, with focus on advanced graduate students and post-doctoral scientists. Applicants from other levels of achievement are also encouraged to apply. Women and members of under-represented minorities are also encouraged to apply.
Application and Evaluation forms are available as downloadable files in PDF format. Forms will also be available in hard copy through the MBL Admissions Office, which will also serve as the clearinghouse for questions from applicants. Applications will be reviewed in hard copy.
Click here to download Application Forms and Evaluation Forms (both are needed).
Applications, with two reference (evaluation) letters for each applicant (including one letter from the applicant's research supervisor), must be sent to the Admissions Office, Attn: MOBS Course, Marine Biological Laboratory, 7 MBL Street, Woods Hole, MA 02543, U.S.A Applications will be reviewed by the MOBS Course Admissions Committee. Applicants will be ranked on the basis of perceived need and suitability of the MOBS Course, and will be notified in writing of their status following that ranking (e.g., Admitted, Wait List, Decline).
Accepted students must return the Enrollment Confirmation and Housing Reservation to Ms. Carol Hamel, as described in materials they will receive from the MBL. Students should be aware of the conditions of acceptance noted in that letter.
Students that accept the invitation to attend the MOBS Course will return for a one week long Review and deja vu Session at the beginning of the following MOBS Course. That Session will include a MOBS Symposium at which students will present their scientific progress and use of modeling.
